Working off the ground is a daily need for most infrastructure workers. At iskills, we interpret the different types of heights training letting you know what training you need and why you need it.

Step One – Safety Harness training.  Unit Standard 23229. The harness is a requirement if you are climbing and attaching to a Proprietary fall arrest system e.g. on a roof, climbing an electricity structure (pole), telco structure or getting in an EWP to work at height. This unit standard is also a requirement by most Telecommunication and Electricity client companies.

Step Two – How do you work at height

  • Electricity Structure (Pole) – unit standard 17025 Pole Top Rescue
  • Telecommunication Structure (Mast or other) – unit standard 17025 Pole Top Rescue
  • Porch, Terrace, Roofs – unit standard 15757 Proprietary Fall Arrest system
  • Height work only from an EWP – unit standard/s applicable EWP for machine used

Step Three – Client requirements
There are a multitude of client training and competency requirements within the infrastructure environment in New Zealand. At iskills, we are familiar with most of these and can support and advise on requirements based on our knowledge of competency management and delivery against client requirements. iskills has also become involved in discussions around competency standard requirements with client companies.
