It’s been an exciting couple of months here at iskills and we have plenty to celebrate! We are happy to be hiring again and would like to introduce some new staff:

Stephan Verrall is our new Trainer/Assessor (on the Electricity side of things), when he’s not showing learners the ropes, he is either mountain biking, camping, surfing, but not fishing… hates fish unless it’s on his plate!

Carolyn Scott is one of our new Competency Administrators in the power and gas team. In her spare time Carolyn enjoys going to the gym, travelling, aerial skills, and having her nose in a book!

Emma St Hill-Warren is a new Competency Administrator in the power and gas team also. Emma enjoys spending time with her young family, camping, traveling, boating and being on the water!

Debbie Armour, another Competency Administrator, is originally from Auckland. Debbie is looking after trainee coordination and funding for new apprentices.  She enjoys spending time with her family at the beach, bike riding, going to zumba classes and being the ultimate foodie!

Anthea Mallasch is our new Administrator who looks after all administration processes and marketing. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, dancing, being at the beach and travelling.

In August, we decided to expand our digital platform – introducing our new iskills Instagram page where you can keep updated with all the social happenings within the office, along with training and course updates.

We are also in the process of taking bookings for our Government Funded qualifications, including our NZ Certificate in Telecommunications Level 3 Qualification, NZ Certificate in Electricity Supply (Introductory) Level 2 and NZ Certificate in Electricity Supply (Line Mechanic Distribution) Level 4Please see the bottom of this Newsletter to book our next block course intakes, along with our Chorus WTC training public dates.

Westpac Tauranga Business Awards – People and Culture 2020

After being interviewed by Roz Irwin from the Chamber of Commerce to gain regional business support for our Emerging Leaders Training Initiative, iskills has been nominated for the public vote for the People & Culture Award at the Westpac Regional Business Awards in November.

This award recognises businesses that have gone above and beyond for their people, have created a positive place to work and supported their team every step of the way through this challenging year.

We love our team culture here at iskills, and what an honor it is be worthy of a nomination! Vote for the iskills team below:

Line Mechanics Block Course

In September, our trainers Cameron and Stephen took a couple Downer trainee line mechanics out to start their New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Line Mechanic Distribution) Level 4 in our very own backyard, the lovely Mount Maunganui.

Check out these photos (courtesy of Cam!) who created this fantastic contraption – it enables HV phase rotation, polarity test, earth continuity and voltage checks on HV and LV lines. Also lockout and applying earths all in a controlled environment. We love innovation at iskills!
